Why shoot in Black and White?

Whether to shoot in Black and White or color is a question all photographers ask themselves. While there are certainly drawbacks to both there are also many advantages to shooting in both. But as for Black and White, it certainly gives you more options to play with the image. The contrast in Black and White pictures is very easy to play with and it can give the image a different feel depending on how you set it. Also, what a color image has going for it is the color. The bright and vivid image is what draws you in. But a Black and White image is devoid of color. It allows you to focus on the subject matter as it is and sometimes it’s a lot better for displaying emotions and telling a story.
Black and White is also far less distracting. In a Black and White photo there’s more of chance the viewers eye will go where you want it to. Black and White photos have various tones, sometimes much more than color. It also works with whatever kind of photo you take. Black and White isn’t really about the presentation. It’s more about its means and ways to communicate what you want to people.
